The movie The Agony and the Ecstasy influenced me more as a child than I realized. Most saw Michelangelo painting the Sistine Chapel, but it was his stone sculpting that fascinated me for decades. I finally picked up a chisel in 2001 and haven't really put it down since.

In the intervening years I pursued creativity in business, building a career in advertising and marketing in California's Silicon Valley. Stone carving is a welcome balance with it's permanence and tradition.
.
What is so compelling about stone carving? It's the immediacy of hard physical work and intense mental concentration to manage three dimensions. It's the immortality of work that can last lifetimes. It's the immediate pleasure of finding the beauty inside a lump of stone. Above all it's the reaction people have when they see the finished sculpture itself.
